What is the best way to learn how to play a RPG game?

I recently bought the Mouse Guard RPG from the comic shop, and I don’t know whether I should read through the whole thing. Its very complicated for me. Should I sign up to watch other guys play it and kinda learn from there, or read the book cover to cover? I kinda know the basic, but the more complicated parts just lose me sometimes.
